Our photography tour explores the best of Lake Atitlan as we drive by boat through stunning scenery and walk into Mayan Villages.

 

This tour has been designed to make the most of your visit in Lake Atitlan and give you the chance to visit the most beautiful parts of the Tzutujiles and kaqchikel villages and markets. Very informative tour and with plenty of photo stops – many of these are planned but many more unplanned to take advantage of spectacular weather conditions and visit to local events organized by the people of the small communities. 

Day 0: Arrive from your flight to Guatemala City. You will be transported from the airport to our hotel in lake Atitlan. We will have an orientation meeting together as a group at the dinner time.

Day 1. This tour starts from your hotel, taking a scenic boat ride across Lake Atitlan. You will have the experience to see a cultural visit starting breathing the tranquility and the amaze view at the San Juan la Laguna and Santiago Atitlan villages, Mayan Tzutujil cultures.  A lot of great pictures can be taken of the people, murals and paintings from local artist, then share a few moments with women’s waving cooperative with the traditional methods of dying thread with native plants.  Neat work, handmade with the original process of extracting natural dyes used to create textile products.  Get to know Medicinal plants, Museum, Traditional Fishing, Spirituality and the Natural Exploration. 

Day 2. We'll have some free time in the morning for more photography from our hotel sides, or in the trails nearby. Then we go to Sant Antonio which offers to us a great variety of Textiles ceramic pots and much more about cultural-life and art. Later our boat will transfer us to Santa Catarina Palopo as it is known by its most beautiful and colorful textiles styles from Guatemala.

Day 3. After a delicious breakfast in our lakeview restaurant we will visit one of our beautiful local markets, Sololá or Chichicastenango. Both markets are colorfull of local people, specially Sololá every Tuesdays and fridays. We will need to decide which place to visit.

Day 4. We'll wake up early to photograph the first light on the lake and the surrounding volcanoes. Later we will walk trough the ancient Mayan trail through the heights of Lake Atitlan and heads from the village of Santa Cruz la Laguna and Jaibalito. In Jaibalito we will spend some time at la Casa del Mundo a Hotel and Restaurant for good vistas for a photo stop. There will be some time for swiming or relaxing in the end our boat will bring us to the center of the lake for our last photographies;) so, then to be ready for the next day to return home!

Day 5. Depart for your flight home, or.........

Price: $1780

Includes airport transfers, all ground transport, all 4 nights hotel accommodations, breakfasts and dinners, entrance-fees at tourist sites, boat trips on Lake Atitlan, local guides.  
The price is based on double occupancy.
