    “An Amazing Trip!”

This tour company knows what they are doing! I was traveling solo and I really had no idea what I was going to do once I got to the lake, but I read the reviews on this website and I gotta say they’re even better than I hoped for. I was really looking forward to learning about the local cultures and histories, but I felt that wandering around by myself wouldn’t teach me much.

Enter Tours Adventure Atitlan, and my awesome tour guide Dina! We visited the villages of San Juan and Santiago. From my hotel, Dina picked me up and rode a private water taxi around the lake. Dina seemed to know everyone in the villages, and when they saw her coming they would call out and welcome us in. I got to learn how the local artisans make their amazing textiles with their homemade dyes and cotton. It was amazing to me, seeing these vibrant colors being made and woven in front of me. I even got to try their weaving first hand! We also met some local painters and I took a couple canvases home with me. Oh, and trying cacao/chocolate that was pure and made right there blew me away.

It was also my first time ever hearing the Tz’utujil language, one that I never knew existed in the first place. Dina explained to me how there are multiple languages spoken around the lake, and that her own language was Kaqchikel. She even showed me how the clothing worn by the locals could tell you which village they were from. There so many things I learned from her and this trip that I never could have understood if I had just found a pamphlet or book and walked around. Nothing is better for learning a local culture than meeting someone who has lived it.

In Santiago, I was lucky enough to have visited on market day. The streets were lined with so many vendors selling local fruits, veggies (tortillas of course, oh how I miss good tortillas. They’re so hard to find back in LA) and clothing. Dina took me to the church of Saint James the Apostle, and there I learned more about the history of Catholicism in the area and the horrors of the civil war. She showed me the various altars within the church and explained in amazing detail the symbolism and history of the altars. I couldn’t believe how much history and culture were told from the carvings of the altars. We then visited the local saint, Maximon! That was an experience I don’t think I’ll ever forget! Stepping into the room you feel the importance and reverence of Maximon.

I couldn’t believe I was so lucky as to have found not only this tour company that offered such a tour, but also that I was so lucky as to have Dina as my guide. I had a number of other guides for other parts of Guatemala, but none that had the knowledge, professionalism or spirit as Dina! On the business side, it was a pleasure working out my plans with Pedro. Even when I had trouble with one situation, he was very accommodating. Thank you for everything, Tours Atitlan!

    “Exactly what we wanted”

We wanted to bring our adopted daughter to her birth country to learn about her people, culture, and history. We reached out to Pedro, who designed an eight day package which included our transportation, lodging, and daily private tours in English. We toured historical areas of Guatemala City, Antigua, and villages on Lake Atitlan. We hiked on an active volcano and Ziplined on a hill above the lake. We visited ancient Mayan ruins and hiked along an old Mayan trail. We rode a chicken bus and took a tour back of a pickup truck. We rode in speed boats and kayaks the lake. It was an amazing package with a variety of activities. We loved everything, and so did our fourteen year old daughter. We realize that there are many beautiful places in Guatemala that we haven’t seen yet, so if we’re able to come again, we will definitely be working with Pedro and our amazing tour guides.

    “Perfect Lake Atitlan day tour”

We booked a private day tour with Tours Atitlan. Our tour boat arrived promptly at our hotel’s dock and we met our guide Deena and boat pilot Andreas. Our day visiting San Juan and Santiago was perfectly organized. Deena was completely focused on what WE wanted to see and experience, not what she wanted us to do. Our day was interesting and well-paced. Deena was clearly popular with shop keepers, artists, restaurant personnel who greeted her warmly. We strongly recommend Tours Atitlan for its superior and top quality service provided by Deena and Andreas..

Exceptional tour agency. Pedro Solis is awesome!

My party of 3 used this company for airport transfers in GC and Tikal. We also used them to transport us from Antigua to Atitlan. We had a private driver for all trips, altho I think they have vans and buses. It was like having our own tour guide. We paid $430 total (not each). Amazing! This also included a private boat that picked us up at 4:30 am at a dock in San Marcos, Atitlan (bc the public boats don’t start running until around 6am) and transport us acrcoss the lake to a private driver awaiting us at the main dock in Panajachel, Atitlan to take us back to GC for our early morning flight to Tikal. Drivers were all excellent. All were promptly on time, drove in a very safe manner and all vehicles were exceptionally clean. All spoke English, altho we were trying to work on our Spanish. We especially liked our 1st driver, Jairo who picked us up at GC airport and took us to Antigua. He was our 1st introduction to Guatemala. Lovely guy. Pedro Solis is who I dealt with making all the arrangements. He was awesome. Payments were all very simple thru Paypal. He was incredibly helpful and was in contact with me throughout our entire trip when we needed pickup times revised (because of us, not them), etc. by both phone and email. I would highly recommend this company. I definitely will be using them when I return. Thanks again for everything Pedro!! You helped make our trip to your country an amazing one!!

    Thank you Pedro

My wife and I had a great experience with Pedro. He took us on a very informative tour of San Antonio de Palopo. Pedro has a lot of passion for his country and the Mayan people along with a very balanced and educated knowledge on a wide variety of subjects. He is the perfect gentleman and he made us feel very lucky and safe being in his company. We wish Pedro and Tours Atitlan every success in the future.

    Highly recommended!

My company took a group of 38 people to Lake Atitlan and Tours Adventure Atitlan handled all transfers and excursions. Pedro Solis, owner and operator, goes above and beyond to make sure everything flows smoothly—from roundtrip airport transfers to everything in between. Logistics were flawless and tours were educational as well as fun. Pedro’s team is responsive and communications were always easy. Special shout out to Lester, Juan, Juan Carlos, Dina, Domingo, Isaias, and of course, Pedro! I highly recommend Tours Atitltan and we will use them again on our next visit to the Guatemala Highlands.

    Amazing Tour Company!

    Hi folks,
If your searching for the right company to tour Lake Atitlan Guatemala? Tours Atitlan is the best. All these awesome reviews you are reading? Well they are just that.

We just returned from the spending 3 days of tours with Isaias as our tour guide. Plus our round trip to and from the airport. We originally only had 2 tours planned then decided to do some changing around, and then added a 3rd tour. Not one problem with any of it. Always on time, spoke excellent English! Especially, Since none of us spoke any Spanish.

We also opted to have lunch with the family. A true Guatemala meal. Wow, what an experience that was. We went to Guatemala for an experience and an adventure and the is exactly what we got. I thank you Isaias and your entire family. You guys are amazing and I wish you all so much success. You no how to take care of people.
P.S. The ride back to the airport with the stop and meal was so much better. 🙂

Thanks to Dina we were informed, educated, safe, and most importantly had fun!

This was mine and my girlfriends first time in Guatemala and Dina from Atitlan Tours made it a great experience. First of all, she was always prompt and on time. We asked to have her for 2 separate days, one to see the market and the other to have a tour of the crater lake. She was prompt, on time, friendly (all things that should be expected) but most importantly she was personal-able. Her English was superior, it was hard to tell she was Spanish since her accent was perfect. The best part about the experience is that it didn’t feel like we were pigeon holed on a particular tour – she was always happy to deviat, explain, and share her own experience. Even if you asked a personal question she was happy to relate it to Guatemala and how it applies. I am a big cook, and she took us through the market, made sure we had the freshest ingredients, as well as shared her recipe with us. Her knowledge of the multiple locations was on point. It was almost like having a friend to meet and show you around rather than a generic tour guide. We give this company all the credit, and especially want to extend a big thank you to Dina. We will be returning to Guatemala as soon as we can get it off work again. She helped us fall in love with the nature, people, culture, and beauty of this place.

    A Great Sunday with Domingo

My girlfriend and I recently visited Lake Atitlan and stayed at the Laguna Lodge. After a quick search on Trip Advisor, we came across this tour company and decided to try and set up an excursion due to all of the wonderful reviews. We were certainly not disappointed – after emailing back and forth with Domingo for two days discussing the options that best fit our interests, we decided on a tour of the city of Santiago. Even though it was one of the regions most important holdiays – el dia de los muertes – Domingo agreed tour us around and show us the best of this lake side village. His English was impeccabe and so was his knowledge of the local cultures and markets of the city. He really took the time to help us understand and appreciate the ways of the local people and even brought us to a tourist safe restaurant where we enjoyed some of greatest taqutos we ever tasted. Overall we agreed that this was one of the best decisions we made when staying in Guatemala and would definitely plan another trip with Domingo if we ever find ourselves back at the lake.
